媽媽說：她真的很不同！財金轉服設 奈得小姐創意發「光」

親子溝通也要學問，全國家長團體聯盟理事長蕭慧英大女兒原就讀台大財務金融系，大三時卻改變興趣，到實踐大學進修推廣部學服裝設計，今年暑假畢業後，已經去服裝設計公司做事，最近更剃了個大光頭宣示決心。面對女兒轉折，蕭慧英始終抱著傾聽與尊重態度，女兒則對媽媽的理解十分感激，也活得相當自信快樂。

長相甜美、自稱「奈得小姐」的蕭慧英大女兒頂著大光頭、一身時尚打扮酷得不得了，原本她讀的是極熱門、知名的台大財金系，成績也不錯。只是，到了大三才發現「興趣不在此」，突然想轉行。
她說，以前想讀財金系是因為不少親戚在金融界發展得不錯，但大二時去基金公司實習，發現自己「不習慣常盯住市場」，因此決定改行。起初她不知道還能做什麼，只知道對「創意」有興趣，想起高中老師上課時自己常在課本上畫滿各式服裝，乾脆去學服裝設計。

「奈得小姐」說，在實踐大學學服裝設計時，班上還有3位台大學生，2位是「純興趣」，她和另1人則真的想轉行，讓她感到不孤獨。她說，媽媽曾勸她，要不要先到金融界工作看看，真的不喜歡再改行。但她意志堅定，爸媽最後也沒意見，今年畢業後就到服裝公司工作。

她說，父母若真能好好和子女溝通，子女有心事一定會說出來，想聽父母意見，而且會認為父母的意見是有用的。她也說，爸媽常花時間和她們一起吃飯、討論事情，親子感情融洽對子女很重要。

蕭慧英認為大女兒很特別，並提醒所有家長，每個孩子都不同，父母須耐心等待孩子成長，並花時間和孩子相處。她至今常和3個女兒一起洗澡，藉此「卸下心防」互訴心事，很有溝通效果。

日前台中一中發生家長為子割腕，她感到遺憾，表示家庭教育很大重要，該聯盟將推動協助家長解決親子問題。

Here's a story with a happy ending: Cecilia Imunu won't lose her teaching job. That's the good news -- for Imunu, for her students, for her school and for the community at large.

Here's the not-so-good news: Imunu is keeping her job at St. Mary's High School in Kitchener only because of intense public pressure that was brought to bear upon Ontario's education bureaucracy. Had Imunu's fellow teachers, and her students, and the parents of her students, and local politicians, and the media not rallied to her defence, she would, in all likelihood, be out of a job.

Here, briefly stated, is the background: Imunu is a Sudanese refugee. She speaks seven languages and holds four university degrees -- two of them master's -- from the University of Khartoum in Sudan, the University of Wales, Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Toronto.

She has all the educational background required to teach in Ontario and is well respected at St. Mary's. The problem was that Imunu could not actually produce her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Khartoum, which she earned in 1979.

The diploma is in Sudan and Imunu felt that she could not return to Khartoum to retrieve it without putting her life at risk. The University of Wales, from which Imunu received her master's in education, verified the existence of the degree, and even provided its serial number, but that wasn't enough for the Ontario College of Teachers, which certifies educators in this province.

The college wanted Imunu pulled from the classroom. It was only after the buildup of public pressure that Imunu's case was finally placed last week in the hands of the college's top official, registrar Doug Wilson. He gave the Imunu file a few days of consideration and then ruled that she could teach in Ontario.

So, yes, in the end, the news is good -- for everyone. St. Mary's gets to keep a fine teacher and Imunu gets to keep her job. The teachers' college now appears satisfied that all the "i's" have been dotted and the "t's" crossed and life at St. Mary's goes on.

But even so, this case has its troubles -- and at the heart of them lies a teacher-certification bureaucracy that lacked the willingness to see beyond its nose. The rigidity with which the Ontario Teachers' College dealt with the Imunu file suggests two things: that it wasn't even remotely prepared to accept the word of a respected teacher of long standing and that it had absolutely no idea how the issue might ultimately play out in the public mind.

The college ignored that at its peril because what students know, and what parents know -- and what educators know -- is that great teachers are hard to find and just as hard to keep. They do not show up on your doorstep every day looking for a job.

The teachers' college tried to hinder Imunu. It tried to keep her out of the classroom. A more enlightened, open-minded bureaucracy would have tried to help.

日本拉麵裡的滷蛋，在中式料理稱為糖心蛋，半熟蛋黃軟軟QQ十分好吃。

糖心蛋作法非常簡單，只要雞蛋放進冷水中煮，等到水滾三分鐘就熄火，再將煮好的蛋放進保鮮盒的冰塊水中，蓋上蓋子拿起來搖一搖，因為熱脹冷縮以及冰塊的碰撞，白煮蛋可以剝得輕鬆漂亮。
接著把雞蛋放進塑膠袋或夾鏈袋中，加入日本柴魚醬油、少許酒或味霖，再對些水，放冰箱一晚就大功告成了。附帶一提，放入塑膠袋的原因是，蛋可以均勻的泡到醬油，又不用放太多。
